This week saw the exciting launch of our new Anime & Manga Club, and what a fantastic first session it was!

The children were introduced to the exciting journey they will be embarking on over the coming weeks as they learn the skills needed to create their own unique manga characters. We discussed the different elements that make manga and anime so distinctive, including character design, drawing styles, facial expressions and storytelling techniques.

Our first session focused on some of the fundamental building blocks of manga drawing. The children explored different facial shapes and learned about the importance of eye and mouth placement when creating characters. They practised drawing a variety of features, experimenting with different styles and expressions to bring their creations to life. It was wonderful to see how quickly they embraced these new techniques and began developing their artistic skills.

Alongside the drawing activities, the children enjoyed sharing their favourite anime series and talking about the manga books they are currently reading. These discussions sparked lots of enthusiasm and helped club members discover new titles and characters they may not have come across before.

The atmosphere throughout the session was full of excitement, creativity and imagination. It was clear to see the passion many of the children have for anime and manga, and they were eager to learn new skills and share their interests with others.

We were incredibly impressed by the level of engagement shown during the first session and look forward to seeing how the children's confidence and artistic talents develop over the coming weeks. As they continue their manga journey, they will have the opportunity to create, refine and develop their own original characters, bringing their ideas from imagination to paper.
