At Westbrook Old Hall, personal development is at the heart of everything we do. Our vision is to ensure that every child flourishes academically, socially and emotionally, enabling them to become confident, respectful and aspirational individuals.

Our mission statement, “Together we grow, with kindness we shine,” underpins all aspects of school life. We value individuality, nurture positive relationships and encourage children to work collaboratively, developing a strong sense of belonging within our school community.

Personal development is carefully planned and embedded across the curriculum. Children develop an understanding of key values that support them in becoming responsible citizens. British Values are explored through curriculum learning and regular discussion of current events, helping pupils to understand the world around them and their role within it. Through PSHE, pupils learn how to stay safe, healthy and happy, while developing resilience and independence.

We enrich learning through a wide range of opportunities that build cultural capital. These include educational visits and residential experiences, including a Year 2 residential, specialist music provision, high-quality sports teaching, structured lunchtime activities and a variety of after-school clubs. These experiences help children grow in confidence, develop social skills and deepen their engagement with learning.

Through our approach to personal development, pupils at Westbrook Old Hall are supported to become well-rounded, motivated learners who are ready for the next stage of their education and life beyond school.
