Today our school came alive with imagination as we celebrated World Book Day 2026 under this year’s theme: “Read Your Way.” The theme encourages every child to embrace stories in whichever way feels right for them—and our pupils certainly rose to the challenge!

From the moment the doors opened, the corridors were filled with an extraordinary mix of book characters, famous authors, cosy pyjamas and favourite everyday outfits. Children were invited to dress in a way that made them feel comfortable and confident, and the result was a wonderful display of individuality. We spotted everything from classic fairy‑tale heroes to modern-day adventurers, alongside budding writers dressed as their favourite authors.

Throughout the morning, pupils attended World Book Day–themed assemblies in their key stages. These sessions explored the joy of reading, the power of imagination and the many different ways that books can enrich our lives. Teachers shared stories, celebrated a variety of genres, and encouraged pupils to think about how reading can be personal, creative and fun.

During the afternoon, the excitement continued as children took part in story‑sharing sessions across different year groups. This special activity gives pupils the chance to introduce their favourite books to new friends, discover new stories, and celebrate reading as a community.

World Book Day is always a highlight of the school calendar, and this year’s “Read Your Way” theme has reminded us just how many ways there are to enjoy books—whether through characters we love, authors who inspire us or stories that stay with us long after we close the final page.

A huge thank you to all pupils, families and staff for helping make the day so memorable. Happy World Book Day—however you choose to read it!
